Heart to Heart

The word “cliche” is cliche in itself. It’s overused. So many phrases get tiresome and they fail to induce feeling anymore.

I wish the term “heart to heart” still gave people the warm fuzzies. It’s a good one. We need more of it in action. I’ve found it works well, especially in these times.

There are people that I know do not agree with me on certain political and social subjects. That doesn’t stop me from starting a conversation that goes beyond these subjects and straight to the heart of what matters to them. Everyone has had a journey of trials in their life that has led them to have the beliefs they do.

I don’t believe we are a society full of people who are so different from each other that we cannot learn to live peacefully. The solution is actually quite simple. All we need to do is listen to each other and make an effort to understand one another. Give someone an opportunity to let their voice be heard.

My suggestion for making a difference is to have a heart-to-heart conversation with someone in your circle. Then suggest that person pick someone in their circle to have a heart-to-heart. I’m betting that if we all participate, that a little bit of love and understanding can spread across the world faster than a virus.
