Made in God’s Likeness

on

When I was young, attending church regularly with my family , I would hear the phrase often, “You were made in the image of God”. What did that mean? My immature mind thought He must have a human form, and probably looked a bit like Santa Claus. I mean, we celebrate Jesus’ birth at Christmas, it would be easy for a little one to relate those images.

About five years ago, I read the Kybalion with its seven universal laws. But, there was one particular sentence in that book that stuck out to me more than any other. One that cracked open the shell that had slowly been poured over my mind in the form of religious conditioning.

The All is in All and All is in The All.”

God is everywhere. Including within us. Our spirit is made in the likeness of God. A small particle of God Himself lives within us, guiding us, though not interfering with our free will. Our mind is our free will. Mind/free will and spirit in combination make up the soul.

If free will is used to repeatedly reject the guidance of God within us, the soul becomes lost. If free will is in agreement with God’s guidance, the soul flourishes. But, understand that every person’s guidance from within is his or her own. One person should not assume that the guidance they receive is for everyone.

This is why we are guided to love our neighbor, for they are also carrying the light of God within them, whether they have reached the same level of acceptance or not. Everyone progresses at their own pace and a stumbling block should not be placed in anyone’s path.

We are All in The All and The All is in All of us.
